A wise poet named Drake once said, “they don’t have no award for that.”
Well, actually, they do.
Campus Compared was awarded first prize for journalism at the 2015 Student Research and Creative Activity Expo on April 9. Fellow Campus Compared staff members Enakshi Roy and Kate Hiller showcased our project to a panel of judges during the event. The annual Expo is an opportunity for students to present their research and ideas to staff and faculty members. A big shoutout goes to all the participants in this year’s Expo! It’s crazy to think about how much talent can squeeze under one roof.
But our work is not finished.
This past week, our writers produced multimedia components that enhanced the visual aspect of our individual projects. For example, Maria Fischer provided a slideshow to explain her process of moving from a big city to a college town. Also, check out how Ohio University’s campus has changed over the years with John Schwartz‘s side-by-side comparisons.
With the help of our friends in the Public Relations capstone class, we have taken another step towards gaining an audience using social media. Our Twitter account has gained new followers, ranging from students to local businesses. After all, if we don’t have an audience, who is going to read all of our award-winning work? We currently have 33 followers on Twitter, but I think that number will double when we get closer to posting our final projects.
We will have many more stories coming out over the next few weeks. Be sure to stay connected with us on social media by following our accounts: @CampusCompared.
